Servant Hands, Servant Heart

Servant Hands

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11

Did you know that you are unique and wonderful? If no one has told you that lately, let me tell you now: You are special, you are someone important. God specifically designed you with a purpose. He gave you talents that not everyone else has.

So what are you doing with those unique gifts?

One thing I look forward to every week that uses my God-given talents is serving in my local church. Every weekend I get to hang out with my brothers and sisters in Christ and welcome new guests to our church. I serve at our Guest Services team where I get to give people information about our church, talk with them after they made a decision for Christ, or maybe just giving them a warm smile as they walk by.

Maybe that doesn’t sound like much fun to you. The great thing is, the local church has so many opportunities to serve. Most churches have a children’s ministry. Maybe the worship team or sound team would delight you. Giving back to God with your time and being a blessing to others is a powerful and wonderful thing.

Along with serving in my church, I deeply enjoy serving in my community. One of my favorite memories is when my Bible study group got together and cooked a meal for the families staying in the Ronald McDonald house. Afterwards, we helped clean and vacuum the kitchen and living room areas. We had a blast doing this together, and the families staying there were so appreciative that they didn’t have to worry about that meal while their children were in the hospital.

I can tell you that I don’t serve nearly enough in the community. Being an employee, mom, wife, church volunteer and blogger sure takes up a lot of time! But when the opportunity presents itself, I am quick to take it because of the joy it gives me to bring joy to others.

Father God, thank you for making me so unique and gifted. Please help me use my gifts to be a blessing to others. Show me opportunities where I can bring joy to the people around me. Give me servants hands and a servant heart. Amen..png

Prayer: Father God, thank you for making me so unique and gifted. Please help me use my gifts to be a blessing to others. Show me opportunities where I can bring joy to the people around me. Give me servant hands and a servant heart. Amen.
