He Loves Us

Friendships, marriage, parents, children, the Christian community – there are so many beautiful relationships in this world. But the most important relationship is that with our Heavenly Father and Christ Jesus.

My Pastor always says that the Bible is a love story – a beautiful story of God’s relentless pursuit of us. The most magnificent things happen when we say YES and turn around and get to know the God who loves us so. The amazing sense of belonging that follows and the void that could only be filled by Him becomes whole.

“This is real love–not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” 1 John 4:10.

When we say yes to God and begin that relationship with Him, we realize that nobody and nothing could ever take that place. We realize no matter how much our husband or children love us, it wouldn’t compare. We realize that however many distractions we place in our life – they are only distractions and God is the only one who can give us the loving peace we need.

Do you have a relationship with God? If so, how is it going? Are you nurturing it or are you busying yourself so much that you are neglecting Him like so many of us do? I have to reflect on my relationship with Him daily to make sure I’m heading the right direction: toward Him and not away.

I don’t know where you are at in your relationship with our Father, but wherever you are – God loves you so much. He wants you to know that and asked me to tell each of you. I hope you take it to heart and smile knowing that the Creator of all things loves you more than a parent loves their child.

Friend, let’s take some time today to thank God for pursuing us. Let’s take a moment to stop running, hiding or being busy and turn to Him and accept His love and give Him yours in return. Then let’s take it further by sharing it with another.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love. Thank you that you want to have a relationship with me and with all of us. Please help me not take it for granted. Amen.

Discussion: How have you felt God’s love for you this month?
