Even as a Christian who is pretty strong in their faith and someone who is considered a leader in church, I still struggle. No matter how deep in your walk with God, you will still have struggles. It’s just your reactions and attitude to these struggles that will change.
Even a few months ago I was feeling a little low. I was struggling deeply with my attitude. I wasn’t having the right attitude about the area I was serving at church or even my relationships with other people. I kept asking God what was wrong and He answered – it was me. That’s a hurtful and humbling time when God tells me I’m what’s wrong in my life. But that’s because I’m such a moody mess at times that satan just gets a foothold and won’t let go until I boot him out (with God’s help).
When I am feeling down and low, I know God will use it to help me grow. I just can’t stay at that low place – I have to get up and carry on. So even with the issue I was struggling with, I stayed close to God and kept praying and reading His word. Eventually I was able to overcome that and grow from the situation. Our walk with God is not a straight upward hill. But it is also not straight across either. It is up and down up and down – but every time you go down, you got up a little bit higher the you were before. Proverbs 24:16 says “The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.”
So remember, if you are going through a struggle right now, get back up again. God will use it to eventually make you stronger, even if you don’t see it right now. He is constantly refining you.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for taking me low moments and helping me learn from them so I can continue to grow. Please help give me a hand up when I am feeling down and thank you for loving me no matter what place I am in at the moment. Amen.
