Finding My Identity

Masterpiece

Have you ever felt a little lost and unsure of yourself that you thought you’d go on a mission to “find yourself?” I think we’ve all been there.  Sometimes it’s a traumatic life event that triggers it such as a divorce or maybe it’s nothing at all – it’s just that you don’t know who you are.

For me, that happened quite a few years ago when I was just feeling a little lost.  I went on that mission to find out who I was so I could finally have that fulfillment in life – my purpose.  What happened? I found something so much better – Jesus Christ.

I came to find that my own identity wasn’t what I needed, it was my identity in Jesus Christ.  Once I found Him, things just started falling into place.  I learned what He thought about me, which was a lot better then what I thought about myself.  I learned how much He loved me and how He had a purpose for me greater than I could ever imagine.  Looking back now I honestly can’t believe how much better things turned out then when I started on my journey.

There are so many beautiful scriptures on our identity and what our loving Father thinks of us, but this one may be my favorite: “For we are God’s masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10.  Did you know, my friend, that you too are God’s masterpiece? You don’t need to spend any more time looking to find out who you are because you are a child of God.  Going even further, that makes you royalty.  Why? Because you are a child of the one true King – you are a prince or princess.  That’s how special you are.  Please believe it.

Prayer:  Father, thank you for loving me so much that you would call me Your masterpiece.  Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice of your Son, Jesus, so that I can live with you forever and we’ll never be apart.  Please help me to remember who I am, your child.  Continue to show me the plans you have for my life so I can live my life for you in your will.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
